The Louise shirt, while classic, finds its originality in its generous cut and numerous attractive details.

  • A shirt collar or a stand collar,

  • "Decorative" tabs to be positioned on the pocket or horizontally on the button placket,

  • A trompe-l'oeil button placket,

  • A chest pocket created by a cutout on the front,

  • A pronounced shirttail shape with the back longer than the front,

  • A bias-bound hem,

  • A box pleat at the back,

  • Wide cuffs with a reinforced vent and two box pleats.

DIFFERENT VERSIONS

The Louise shirt pattern comes with two different collar options: a classic shirt collar and a stand-up collar, onto which you can sew a small button placket.

  • You can then play with the placement of the second placket, which can be positioned:

    • on the chest pocket to close it,

    • or horizontally on the button placket.

SIZING:

The Louise pattern is available in sizes 34 to 52.

As usual, choose your size based on your measurements and the size chart below:

If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one, as it is easier to adjust a garment than to make it bigger! However, please note that the shirt is quite roomy, and you can easily choose to sew it one size smaller than your usual size for a slightly more fitted look.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

The finished garment measurements below (including garment ease) can also help you choose your size.

HEIGHT:

  • The pattern is designed for a height of 1.65m (5'5") and the center back length is a good indicator to determine whether you need to lengthen or shorten the pattern. Keep in mind, however, that the Louise shirt is asymmetrical. It is longer in the back than in the front.

  • If you wish to alter the length, cut the pattern along the designated cutting lines and add or subtract the desired amount by separating or overlapping the two pattern pieces by the required number of centimeters.

  • Make sure that the center back and center front lines remain straight and redraw the side seams.

  • Remember to recalculate the fabric requirements afterward to account for your adjustments!

For a height of 1m60, I removed 2cm from the length of the shirt as well as from the length of the sleeves.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:
