The Courtney coat, with its kimono sleeves, shawl collar, and hidden pockets in the front yoke, is a short coat for a dynamic and on-trend style!
The Courtney coat pattern is available with or without lining. This allows you to customize your garment to your liking, depending on the fabric and style you want to achieve. The bias binding finish, for example, is particularly well-suited to double-sided fleece fabrics.
In both cases, the Courtney coat pattern offers very clean finishes and, with its few pattern pieces, allows for quick sewing and a fun construction process!
Slightly fitted at the back, you can wear the Courtney coat with a tie belt (included in the pattern), a contrasting or matching leather belt, or even without a belt.

SUPPLIES
Recommended fabric width for a 140cm fabric:
BIAS-BOUND VERSION (BIAS BINDING)
-
Size 34: 250cm (*) / Size 36: 260cm (*) / Sizes 38 to 42: 280cm / Sizes 44 and 46: 290cm
NOTE:
If your fabric does not have a specific direction, you can position the front facings in the opposite direction to the grain, as this saves a significant amount of material. If your fabric is directional, such as velvet, or if it has a print, stick to the standard placement (straight grain) to avoid an unsightly visual effect.
Fabric requirements for a 140cm wide fabric with facings placed opposite the grain:
-
Sizes 34 and 36: 230cm (*) / Sizes 38 and 40: 240cm (*) / Sizes 42 and 44: 250cm / Size 46: 280cm (*)
LINED VERSION
-
FABRIC: Sizes 34-36: 220cm (*) / Size 38: 230cm (*) / Sizes 40-42: 240cm (*) / Sizes 44-46: 250cm (*)
-
LINING: Sizes 34-36: 175cm / Sizes 38-40: 180cm / Sizes 42-46: 185cm
(*) A tie belt is included in the pattern. However, if you prefer to wear your coat with a belt made of a different material, or even without a belt, then it's not necessary to make one.
For some sizes, this won't change the amount of fabric needed. However, for sizes marked (*) in the size chart, you can subtract 20 cm from the suggested amount if you're not making a belt.
